2 Samuel 14:14

"...But God does not take away life, instead, he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him."

What an amazing verse found in the Old Testament. I had always thought of the Old Testament for it's stories but this verse truly tells the reason Christ came. God had devised the way before the beginning of time to allow us, banished people, to not remain alienated from Him. This verse totally excited me last night when I read it. I don't really know what else to say about it, it pretty much speaks for itself. God's desire is that we will not remain alienated from Him but that we would return to him and one day live with Him in Heaven. This just really excites me.

Back at the U

Well summer's over and I'm back at school. I must admit that at first it didn't seem like school without the likes of Kevin, Paul, and Justin (sorry if i left you out, whoever you are, i miss you too). At this point, classes are picking up and it definitely feels like school again. 17 hours this semester but the rest of my time at Union should be much more relaxed if i balance it right, so I'm pretty excited about this fall.

I'm pumped about this weekend as I'll get to watch the soccer team play for the first time this season. With my schedule and I don't know that i'll make it to many, if any, away games this year but I'm excited about the home games!

Things on the home front are going well. I think my parents are adjusting to have no (yep, that's zero) kids at home. I know they miss me the most but i'm sure they'll be alright together! I think they have plans of traveling all fall without us so I'm sure they'll miss us even more.

Things with Kristen couldn't be better. She's an amazing woman and everyday I come to like her more and more. I thank God for her tolerance towards me and her willingness to put up with me and date me. She's the bomb.

I've been running again. Yesterday I did 1.6 miles in 20 minutes and today I did the same distance in 21 minutes. My legs didn't hurt too much today after yesterday so I decided to try it again and it went pretty well. I'm sure tomorrow they will hurt a ton but i'm done with classes at 11 am so I'll have some down time tomorrow afternoon/evening for sure.

I'm not sure what this weekend holds yet, but hopefully it'll be a good time! I'll try to post more often than once every two months now that I'm back at school.

Until next year, stay classy summer time

The Thompsons

To the Thompsons, old and new!

What an amazing weekend I had participating in the marriage ceremony for Jordan and Whitney! It was a blast from the minute i got there to the minute we left!

Many memories were made, especially with Micah, Kevin, and Justin, and I'm very excited for Jordan and Whitney! I know God has great plans for their lives together and I can't wait to see where He takes them!

Until next time, stay classy Thompsons...

Ball'n Weekend

This weekend was pretty solid.. I went up to Watts Bar Lake with Kristen's family and we had a great time! Riding the jet ski.. Kristen's dad's new boat.. tubing with Kristen.. pulling wake boarders.. attempting to wake board... Kristen crashing miserably off the rope swing, it was a great time!

The past week has been pretty good.. I did some work for dad last week which was pretty good and I'm going to do some more this week..

What about that World Cup? America crashing out yesterday was rather disappointing, but who really expected them to go places anyway? i would have liked to see them win though.. And England were robbed today, what a shocking decision from the refs.. Argentina to win it all? they've looked pretty good so far?? Brazil are impressive as well.. We'll see what happens but i've definitely enjoyed watching the games as much as i can..

Alright well it's off to the lake with Mom and Dad for a sunset cruise..

Until next time, stay classy Watts Bar..

Summer time?

Summer is here.. finally..

it's been great to be home with the family.. enjoyed a great post season with Corey's soccer team watching them play and eventually they lost in the state championship game, but they played phenomenal... spent a ton of time with the family on the boat and jet ski.. it's been really good so far!

My grades came out great this semester, the fall will be tough but i'm excited about it.. Corey and Josh (Fern) move in to replace K Brad and Pooh Bear (who are both welcome to return for FIFA match whenever they please)... Micah and i are real excited about living with our brothers though.. Micah's off in the Philippines right now hopefully having a good time...

I'm headed to a wedding this week with Kristen up in Knoxville for her roommate Whitney and i'm really excited about it.. it should be fun, so long as she doesn't make me dance too much.. but no it'll be fun and i'm really excited about it..

I found this new place on the lake today, well i've known this island was there i'm going to explore it next weekend with Kristen and i'm excited about that too... I'm going to start shadowing at the hospital again this week also- hopefully get to see some exciting things again this summer..

Tonight dad and Corey and I burned a hornet's nest out of the bushes... we "accidentally" used too much gasoline though, and the whole tree just exploded into flames, it was awesome though and definitely one of the funnier things we've ever done... it was a good time though..

Kristen's family came over for dinner tonight that was really cool it's crazy that our parents had hardly met each other after us dating for so long but it was really fun to spend time with both families..

Time to hang with corey a bit.. Until next time, stay classy hornets...

School...

Sorry it's been a while.. School has bombarded me lately..

Spring break was really good.. i spent some time at home with my family and then went to Destin for a few days.. great break though.. Now it's back in the saddle for 5 weeks plus finals then summer time!

I'm very ready for this summer.. got tons of weddings to attend, tons of time to be spent with friends on the lake.. it should be a great time

United crashed out of the CL yesterday with a win over Bayern.. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to see us through, but either way Barcelona are going to win the league.. Check out this video of little Messi as a young pup

Not having a facebook has been pretty cool lately- i would challenge readers to try it sometime! Skype is the new facebook chat anyway so everyone should get one of those... find me if you do i'm d_wil2488..

I've an organic test in the AM as well as a research paper, test, and project all next week- but thursday will bring a sigh of relief.. I believe next weekend will be the first lake experience of 2010 and in no way is that depressing!

I'm off to classes and such but i'll try to write more frequently...

Until next time, stay classy Champions League

So Long Facebook

My Facebook has been deactivated (on my own terms) on account of the amount of time spent on there. 20 minutes here and 15 there throughout the day adds up quickly, and that time can be spent elsewhere..

So for now..so long Facebook..

Spring break begins tomorrow at 11:50 after a Vertes test. The break is much needed but will be consumed by Strecker synthesis and the mechanism behind it.. That's okay though- a break will be nice..

Until next time, stay classy Mark Zuckerberg

Food Poisoning?

What a weekend... Friday night i decided to head home to surprise Kristen cuz she got home from her Dominican Republic mission trip Friday night... Unfortunately, God saw fit for me to come down with food poisoning Friday night.. so rather than meeting her and surprising her i threw up..

But i felt better saturday, so we got to hang out saturday and sunday and it was awesome! Her trip sounds like a truly amazing experience and it was so cool to hear about it.. Overall- it was a solid weekend..

Tomorrow Micah and I head to Nashville for Muse.. it's going to be epic.. A lab test thursday, then back to Chattanooga Friday for corey's game on Saturday.. Hopefully a pretty relaxed week ahead..

Until next time.. stay classy McDonald's double cheeseburgers..

Five Feet of Fury + Yank did work tonight. Enough said.

Our intramural team- down 15-28 at halftime with five guys left came back to win 44-34 in the end... It was an epic game and it was so fun.. Nate Peterson probably had 34 points, and played 18 minutes with four fouls.. another legendary performance from the big northerner..

tomorrow holds 4 hours of organic lecture- it's going to be a long afternoon.. but it'll be good.. tomorrow night has potential for a movie night, as i wait for Kristen to call me when she gets back!

Weekend- research paper..

Monday- MUSE..

it's gonna be a good next few days..

Until Next time, stay classy Mr. Peterson..

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

Thursday.. 12:05... will get a great moment in time.. At that point, my weekend basically begins..

i have a test that will finish at 12 thursday.. lab thursday night, then intramural basketball game because we won tonight because Nate Peterson is a legendary 3-point shooter.. Then Friday night Kristen gets back from the Dominican Republic and i'm so excited to talk to her again! Then this weekend i'm going to try to knock out a large portion of a research paper but we'll see how that goes.. then MONDAY night me and Micah Fern will go to MUSE in Nashville and have the time of our lives together!

So until next time, stay classy Five Feet of Fury + Yank..

It's been a while..

followers-

It's been a while since i've been on here, i apologize.. Life has been extremely busy the past few days, but tomorrow after a test at 3 I can breathe a sigh of relief!

This past weekend was insane. Friday night Kristen and I went to the Signal Mountain Opry, which was really cool.. Then saturday morning we went for a hike and went to lunch with my parents.. Saturday afternoon Corey, Phillip, and I left for Atlanta to see Muse in concert.

The Muse concert was beyond my wildest imaginations! We had floor tickets and it was completely insane. People were going nuts and we had a great time! (I'll try to post a picture, but i'm not sure how to do that yet..)

So this whole weekend while i was home, my mind was not there. I was so stressed/worried/anxious about stuff happening in Jackson, primarily tests, that I could not even focus on life for those few days. When i got back to school Sunday, I had to study for a test Monday morning, then I knew I had a test Wednesday as well- so it was all just really stressing me out!

So I stop studying Sunday and start reading my Bible.. I come across some awesome stuff in Philippians that really spoke to me..

In Phil. 4:11-13, Paul talks about being content with his situation, regardless of the circumstances. I guess God was really speaking to me and just saying "look dwil- you'll be okay." He knew i was completely stressed about all these tests and stuff, but He also knew what i needed to hear from Him at that very moment. Then, Phil 4:13, a verse we all know well- "I can do everything through him who gives me strength." God was basically covering my thoughts and letting me know that everything would be okay. It was so amazing to see Him move in my stressful times..

Then this morning i was reading in Luke 12 and Jesus is talking about how we don't need to worry about stuff.. It has been so neat to see God calm my fears and emotions over the past few days. Psalm 144:3 says "O Lord, what is man that you care for him, the son of man that you think of him." God really does care for us. He knows our thoughts, he knows our minds, and he knows our hearts. The past six days He has definitely been comforting my heart through the midst of the stress of tests and I am so grateful!

Until next time, stay classy Bellamy

Feb 23

Today I went to a banquet for Siskin Hospital, the rehab hospital I spent five weeks at in the spring of 2008. It was really neat to see my therapists again and get to spend some time with them in a much more formal setting. It was incredible to hear other people's stories of healing and God's grace in their lives. There were loads of people there to support the hospital and its mission to help people. It was really neat to see.

I am so thankful for the people in my life that ministered to my family that spring. I don't know that those people will ever know how much they helped us and I know we could never repay them. It's so neat to see God's people rally together around one another when strife and turmoil comes. They truly did carry our burdens for us, and for that my family is so grateful.

Busty week from tomorrow to next Wednesday including- 1. an organic test 2. a vertes lecture test 3. a vertes lab test 4. a Muse concert in Atl.. it's going to be busy, but I'm excited. Kristen and I are going to the Signal Mountain Opry Friday night and I'm real excited about that as well!! Alright i need some sleep..

Until next time, stay classy Siskin Hospital

A New Week

Another crazy week ahead..

Monday holds a 4 hours drive to Chattanooga, followed by some time with my parents and brother.. followed by some time with Kristen (Lee).. Then Tuesday morning will be a breakfast adventure super early (but it will be worth it) then the Siskin Rehab banquet Tuesday at 11:30.. I'm really excited about seeing people again that were a part of the recovery process..Tuesday holds another 4 hour drive back to Jackson. Friday, there's an organic chemistry test that i suppose i should partake of, so that means Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly studying...

Then Friday night, it's back to Chattanooga.. a hike Saturday morning, then MUSE!!! in Atlanta Saturday night!! So excited about that! me and Corey have floor tickets!!

It was a great weekend here in Jackson with my friends.. and the Yank (Nate Peterson)... we shot off a rocket car that was pretty insane, and Abigail and Kelly made us some amazing dinner Saturday night, can't beat free, homemade food as male college students right? I know me and kevin were very appreciative (if any of those people are reading this...)

Maybe one day i'll stop summarizing my days on this blog and actually right about something worth reading... Maybe try to be a little bit more like my brother.. if you want some interesting reading- follow his blog at:

gonna give a shout out to my Honda Element, where I will spend most of my days this week..

Until next time, stay classy Club Element

Title?

today was pretty exciting in my life.. Today, for the first time in over 2 years now, i ran a one mile run. Granted it was a bit unorthodox, i still completed the lap. I don't think i've ever been so excited to run in my life. It was so cool and reassuring to know that God is still healing my body..

Classes were good this week.. This weekend, unfortunately, is going to hold much studying. I've got to get some stuff read for my classes and such, meanwhile Kristen will be snow skiing in North Carolina with her family.. I'm just a bit jealous i guess..

I'm looking forward to the Siskin Banquet Tuesday afternoon. Dad has got a lot of people coming, so it should be exciting to see people again!

until next time, stay classy, planet earth

Valentine's Day

hey all..

Today was incredible. Enough said, but here's some more about the day..

got up.. laid around this morning.. at 12 i left to go pick up Kristen (Lee, who is not my sister to those who don't know who she is) and we went hiking. This was my first time to hike since the tornado and it was awesome! We went to Signal Point and it was really fun. I didn't fall once, and Kristen was trying to keep up with me, but it was tough for her.. (okay not really she took it really easy on me, and I appreciate that). I had a great time though, it was so good to be outdoors and to hike again. God has healed me immensely in two years!

Then I took Kristen home and then went home, then at 6 I went to pick her up for dinner. We ended up at McCallister's, which my family things is "unclassy", but everywhere else had way too many people. We had fun so that's all that matters. Then we went to the Hyams' to see their kids and stuff for a while then got ice cream. We came to my house and watched "Australia" with my mom..

Australia was good, but it seemed like it could have ended 3 maybe 4 different times.. They kept complicating the plot every time they solved a problem, it was good though. Then I took Kristen home and that concludes our Valentine's Day celebrations..

I'm not a big fan of this holiday, but we had a great time today!

I'm looking forward to church tomorrow and seeing the couples renew their vowels. It will be neat to see how God has sanctified their marriages for over 25 years. Then tomorrow i'll head back to Jackson for classes on Monday!

great day today, until next time, stay classy Cupid

What a Show!

We just got back from the John Mayer concert, what an incredible evening! Kevin's mom made us some delicious dinner over at their house, and we had a great time hanging out. Hobbs decided to be the bigger man this time, after missing out on the Coldplay concert in July, and joined us this time. Kristen and her roommates also met up with us so it was awesome!

I didn't really realize John Mayer was such an incredible guitarist. I knew he was good but his talent really surprised me a bit, he was awesome! It was all around an amazing night with some amazing friends.. Now it's time to get some sleep..

Until next time, stay classy Nashville, Tennessee

What a Week

This week is turning out to be fantastic. Monday- snow day, no classes. Tuesday- snow day, no classes. Wednesday- John Mayer Concert with friends from two cities. Friday- go home and see my family and Kristen again. Saturday- go for a hike for the first time since the tornado.

All these snow days are really fun. College should be more like this, where you just hang out all the time and never have to go to class. Last night Kevin, Pooh Bear, and I played FIFA until 4 AM, and what a time we had! Pooh Bear successful completed the art of losing every game in one night, including games to Seattle Sounders and LA Galaxy. It was great fun though. Kevin and I spent nearly two hours playing ping pong last night as well, which was a great start at making up for all the time we have missed over the past two years.

So I've had these thoughts to start some type of student led worship service on campus. I told Kevin about it last night, and he says there are lots of people on campus that are wanting to do something like that, but no body has stepped up to initiate. I'm very excited about the opportunity God has laid on my heart to pursue this idea and perhaps get one going! To my readers: be in prayer for this process over the next few weeks.

Looking forward to a great day today, hoping labs get cancelled tonight!

Until next time, stay classy blogger world..

New to This

Alright.. new to the whole blogging thing, but I'm going to give it a shot.. no guarantees that I'll continue to post, but maybe this semester i can get in the habit of writing on here..

So I have tons of written composition homework to do this week, but the pay off will be a John Mayer concert Wednesday in Nashville. so hopefully it will prove to be worth studying more on sunday and monday..

until later.. stay classy blogger world
